September 2017 marked 12 years living with Type 1 Diabetes. T1D is a 24/7 disease that has no cure. It physically and mentally takes a toll on my body every day. I have lived through 12 years of injections, finger pricks, and wearing medical devices.
Last April I was blessed with an amazing opportunity. I was one of 7 patients chosen to participate in a first release of the Medtronic 670G Artificial Pancreas. Thanks to the funding provided by JDRF, I am able to experience advances in technology that twelve years ago were just a dream. We came so incredibly far in advancements since my diagnosis in 2005, but we still have a long way to go. I can only dream about the day I don't have to wear multiple devices or worry about the statistics of my children inheriting T1D. I pray that a cure is in my future, and the only way to insure that is through the advancements made possible by JDRF.
Please join me in fundraising for JDRF's Fund A Cure for the opportunity to make a direct 100% donation to Type 1 Diabetes research.
